Homes and cars were swept away in flood waters in Indiana on Friday (August 26) night due to floods caused by a week of intense storms.
Several tornadoes and storms plowed through central Indiana this week, demolishing homes, flooding streets and cutting off power to thousands of Indianapolis-area residents.
Ten to 12 people were reported to have suffered minor injuries in Howard County, which bore the brunt of the storms, according to John Erickson, spokesman for the state Homeland Security Department.
A large tornado struck near Indianapolis earlier in the week, the state's capital and largest city, as severe thunderstorms rolled through the region, the National Weather Service said.
