The Syrian Army and National Defense Forces (NDF) continued to smash the militants in the Northeastern part of the coastal province of Latakia and gained full control over a number of mountains and heights.
The militant groups pulled forces back from more positions in the mountainous regions of Latakia under the heavy offensives of the Syrian government forces, who imposed full control over the mountains of al-Qamou and Kafr Sanad and a number of strategic heights.
The newly-captured heights were among the last strongholds of the militant groups in Northeastern part of the province.
The militants suffered a heavy death toll in the pro-government forces' attacks.
In relevant developments in the Northwestern battlefield of the country on Monday, the Syrian army and the NDF continued to push the militant groups back from more lands in the Northeastern part of Latakia and freed six villages in a several-hour battle.
The Syrian government forces stormed defense lines of the Takfiri terrorists near the villages of Beit al-Aous, Ard al-Wata, Hakoura al-Tahtaniyeh, Ruweisat al-Malek, Ruweisat al-Maqnas, Dahr Abu Asaad and a number of strategic heights and forces their to retreat from their position.
Then, the army engineering units combed the newly-gained territories and defused a number of bombs and other kinds of explosive devices planted by the militants across the battlefields.
The militant groups suffered a heavy death toll and their military hardware sustained major damage in the army operations.
A numbers of the militants fled the battlefield toward Latakia border with Turkey to find safer shelters, FNA reported.
