At the meeting held in Beirut on Wednesday, the Iranian diplomat said Tehran is seeking friendly ties with regional countries, including Saudi Arabia.
“We are ready to engage in talks with our Saudi friends and we believe that the country (Saudi Arabia) has an important role in the region.”
As regards developments in Lebanon, Amir Abdollahian said Salam has successfully left behind major crises during his tenure as the Arab country’s prime minister.
Lebanese prime minister can well manage the current situation in Lebanon, he added.
He further voiced Tehran's preparedness to help Lebanon get rid of problems facing the country.
The Lebanese prime minister, for his part, hailed Iran's support for Lebanon's security and stability.
Pointing to recent visits to Lebanon and regional states by Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, Salam said the visits indicates Iran's new foreign policy to promote relations with regional countries.
Earlier on Tuesday, Amir Abdollahian had met with the United Nations special envoy for Syria, Staffan de Mistura, in Beirut.
The Iranian deputy foreign minister said in that meeting that the role of the Syrian people and government and the serious efforts made by President Bashar al-Assad to combat terrorism should be considered in any plan in the war-stricken country; tasnimnews reported.
