Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab-African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian made the remarks in a telephone conversation with the UN Special Envoy for Yemen, Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed.
Stressing Iran’s principled approach to the issue, he appreciated the UN envoy’s efforts to solve the Yemen crisis through diplomatic ways.
He then stressed the need to lift the siege on the Yemeni cities.
To solve the Yemen crisis, all regional sides should follow talks and support Yemeni-Yemeni negotiations, noted Amir-Abdollahian.
He then invited Cheikh Ahmed to visit Iran for more talks about the issue and to discuss the wave of terrorism which has been spread to whole region as a consequence of attack on Yemen.
For his part, the UN envoy said the diplomatic talks were held in a positive atmosphere despite the existing problems.
All parties, he said, believe in political way to solve the Yemen crisis.
Without referring to details about the UN plan, Cheikh Ahmed described ceasefire in different parts of Yemen coincident with the start of diplomatic talks according to the UN resolutions as proper framework for solving the crisis.
Saudi Arabia with the help of nine other Arab countries except Oman has mounted massive attacks on Yemen since March 26, 2015.
