The Islamic State (ISIS / Daesh / ISIL) terrorist group’s Aamaq news agency released footage on Tuesday claiming to show a missile attack on an Iraqi army tank near the northern Iraqi city of Mosul.
The attack carried out by ISIS fighters took place on Monday, according to Aamaq.
AP reported that cannot independently verify the date or authenticity of the video.
Iraqi government and Kurdish forces, backed by US-led coalition air and ground support, launched coordinated military operations early on Monday as the long-awaited fight to wrest the northern city of Mosul from ISIS got under way.
Aamaq also reported that fighter jets of the US-led coalition had again targeted the Hurriyeh Bridge that links eastern neighborhoods of Mosul with western parts of the city across the Tigris River.
Footage aired by Aamaq showed extensive damage to the bridge.
Monday’s attack on the bridge apparently came two days after it was first hit by warplanes, on the eve of the offensive against ISIS in the city, according to Aamaq.
