On Wednesday, the Syrian Army and popular forces took back more strongholds from the militant groups in the strategic town of Darayya, enabling them to take yet another major stride in completing siege of the terrorists in Western Ghouta.

The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights announced that clashes between the army and popular forces and the militant groups near Darayya were focused on the Western side of the city and the Syrian army units could liberate the blocks around the city and make more advances in the region.

The clashes erupted after massive missile attacks by the army and helicopters against the terrorists' positions in Darayya.

The army has been able to surround the terrorists in a less than one kilometer ground in Darayya after retaking full control over the adjacent farms and ranches.

The SOHR also reported that the Syrian fighter jets pounded the terrorists' gathering centers in Douma, Eastern Ghouta, which inflicted heavy damages on their strongholds; FNA reported.
