The United States Department of Defense released footage on Thursday (August 4) that purports to show coalition air strikes on Islamic State (ISIS / Daesh / ISIL) targets in Syria.
The strikes were conducted on July 16 on militants’ fighting positions near Manbij, Syria, the Combined Joint Task Force said.
US-backed forces have seized control of almost 70 percent of Manbij in northern Syria from Islamic State (ISIS / Daesh / ISIL) after making rapid advances over the past two days, a spokesman said on July 31.
Syria Democratic Forces (SDF), which include the powerful Kurdish YPG militia and Arab fighters, launched the campaign nearly two months ago with the backing of US Special Forces to drive Islamic State (ISIS / Daesh / ISIL) from its last stretch of the Syrian-Turkish frontier.
Manbij’s loss would be a huge blow to the militants since it is a vital conduit for the transit of foreign terrorists and provisions from the Turkish border.
