Field sources in Syria said that the military coup was organized by the Sunni Youth terrorist group's members in Basri al-Sham city in Daraa province, Southern Syria, but they failed to reach their desired objectives and were split in two groups of supporters of Ahmad al-Audah, the commander who was the subject of the coup, and Mohammad Tomah, the commander of coup plotters.
The sources added that if the severe clashes continue between the two sides, there will be a possibility for Fatah al-Sham (the newly formed al-Qaeda-affiliated terrorist group previously known as al-Nusra Front) militants' interference, especially after Tomah called himself as the commander of the Sunni Youth group.
According to the sources, the terrorists who supported al-Tomah surrounded the caches of weapons and ammunitions and tried to reach al-Audah's residence but he fled to Jordan.
The coup plotters accused al-Audah of corruption and relations with the ISIS and called for decisions to remove him from power. The pro-coup forces also demanded intensive operations to distract the Syrian army attention from Northern to Southern Syria, but failed to make a considerable move.
The coup was staged as positions of terrorist groups in farms near Daraa al-Balad district were badly destroyed in the Syrian army troops' attacks earlier this week.
The Syrian soldiers stormed terrorist groups' gathering centers in al-Nakhleh farms, killing and wounding several militants and destroying their machinegun-equipped vehicles on Wednesday.
