Rescue and relief work is underway in Tianzhu Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in northwest China’s Gansu Province after rain-caused flood hit the area Tuesday evening.
A downpour caused a flood in eight townships of Tianzhu Prefecture Tuesday evening.
In Songshan Township, floodwater was up to 1.5 meters deep, damaging homes and threatening the safety of more than 1,300 local residents.
Around 330 officers and soldiers were deployed to the prefecture to transfer the residents and dig drainage ditches.
At least 745 people had been evacuated by Thursday morning.
