Firefighters rescued a two-year-old boy from a dry well on Friday in Baotou City in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.

The well is about six meters deep with a diameter of around 60 centimeters.

The rescuers arrived at the site and found the boy was injured in his forehead.

Being stuck in a narrow and deep space might increase the risk of asphyxia due to lack of oxygen.

The firefighters thus decided to send a thin and small member down the well upside down in order to save the boy as soon as possible.

The chosen firefighter went down the well and held the boy with his hands, and then other members pulled them up together.

The boy was immediately sent to hospital for treatment and observation.

According to the boy's father, the board covering the well mouth was missing that day, and the child fell into the well while playing around, Reuters reported.
