Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marziyeh Afkham blasted the recent anti-Iran statements of US Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter who provoked the Arab states to have a will to battle Iran.
Afkham’s remarks came after the US defense secretary in an interview with the Atlantic website said the Arab allies need fewer expensive weapons systems and instead more will to battle ISIS and Iran on the ground.
“Ashton Carter’s statements show the destabilizing policies and measures of the US in the region,” the Foreign Ministry spokeswoman said.
Afkham said that these statements blatantly show the enmity and pessimism in the region, and said, “The US defense secretary’s statements deserve reaction of the regional Arab governments for being humiliated and insulted to such extent by Ashton Carter before any need to any response from the Islamic Republic of Iran.”
She went on to say that Ashton’s statements indicate that from the point of view of the US defense secretary the Arab countries are incapable and destitute and that the US has continued its political approach of maintaining the superiority of the Zionist regime over the Arab states and makes decision for these countries.
“It goes without saying that the Muslim nations of the region and the public opinion of the Muslim world will judge about these incorrect policies and they will not forget it negative consequences for the Muslim Ummah,” Afkham added; IRNA reported.
