Marziyeh Afkham quashed rumors on Sunday that Zarif and Kerry may have discussed the regional subjects in their meeting on the sidelines of an annual UN General Assembly in New York.
“In that meeting, negotiations were held about the nuclear issue and the measures that should be taken from the day of agreement to implement the JCPOA (Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action),” the spokeswoman explained.
Afkham noted that the two ministers have also discussed the “ways to prevent the spread of Iranian people’s distrust of the process of implementation of the JCPOA.”
The spokeswoman made it clear that Zarif and Kerry have not held any talks on the regional issues in the meeting.
Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) on July 14 finalized the text of a lasting agreement on Tehran’s peaceful nuclear program in Vienna.
The 159-page deal will have the whole nuclear-related sanctions against Iran terminated after taking effect; Tasnim reported.
