Syrian Prime Minister Wael al-Halqi has accused the United States and some Arab countries of not being serious in finding a political solution to his countrys crisis, al-Alam reports.
In an exclusive interview with al-Alam correspondent Hossain Mortada before leaving Damascus for Tehran to take part in the swearing-in ceremony of the new Iranian President Hassan Rohani, al-Halqi reiterated that Syria welcomes any initiative that helps find a solution to the Arab country’s crisis.
“Syria has expressed readiness to take part in Geneva 2 conference, but other parties lack a clear vision and still bet on the situation on the ground,” he added.
The Syrian Prime Minister considered solidarity among the Syrian people, army and leadership as the reason for Syria’s perseverance, saying, “Despite all the economic war and the sanctions against the Syrian people, the country’s economy is still strong and coherent.”
On the other hand, al-Halqi referred that he carries a message to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
The Crisis in Syria started in March 2011, when pro-reform protests turned into a massive insurgency following the intervention of Western and regional states.
The unrest, which took in terrorist groups from across Europe, the Middle East and North Africa, has transpired as one of the bloodiest conflicts in recent history.
