Our reporter, Hossein Murtaza, who has been traveling along with the army in many operations, said on Wednesday that the army is advancing according to its plans in main volatile regions which are most threatened by terrorists and extremist groups.
In Rif Dimashq the army has made considerable achievements in containing threats to the capital, clearing several areas from armed groups and returning security to residential areas.
“The army has started an operation to tighten its grip through Rif Dimashq and around the capital since last night,” Murtaza said, adding that according to military sources Syrian soldiers are advancing in their fighting against terrorists.
Rif Dimashq is a congested governorate which is filled with small towns and neighborhoods all around the capital Damascus.
Murtaza said that insurgents have caused extensive damages to the buildings and public facilities in different towns in Rif dimashq and workers are trying to repair basic structures to ease public access, especially to electricity and communication services.
In Qaboun district, where fighting is still going on, insurgents have shot down the electricity system and cut off all main wires. An aid group, sent to repair the wires, was attacked by insurgents and several of them were killed, Murtaza said.
Barze operation, in north of Rif Dimashq, is reported to be successfully going on. The army soldiers have been advancing according to plan and they are close to clear the whole area in a matter of hours, as our reporter said.
In Homs operations, the strategic town of Talkalakh was completely cleared and key al-Shaer gas field which was previously occupied by armed groups is now under control of the army.
In Aleppo, the army is going on with its “North Storm” operation, trying to break the siege over northern towns which have been under a strict blockade for nearly a year.
Army’s tasks are relatively more difficult to perform in Aleppo since it lies near Lebanon borders, a main supply route for militants to smuggle arms and bring in new force.
Residents of the area, who have been deprived of food and medicine for months now, have been waiting for the army for so long, as our reporter said.
People are daily attacked and several get killed in northern towns, especially Nubbul and al-Zahra, and they do not dare to exit their homes. Shops are closed, food is gravely scarce and people have been struggling with shortage of medicines.
Heavy clashes are also reported in Hama between army soldiers and basically al-Nusra Front terrorists.
Syria crisis started as pro-reform protests but with interventions by the United States, UK and their regional and Western allies it soon turned to a massive insurgency which took in numerous terrorist groups from all over Europe and the Middle East to wage one of the bloodiest wars the region has ever experienced.
The war, which many fear is turning to a “war of hatred”, has already taken more than 90,000 lives.
