Syria has strongly criticized UN human rights chief Navi Pillay for her blatant unfairness and favoritism about the war condition in Syria which has been torn by a massive foreign-backed insurgency for more than two years.
According to SANA news agency, the Syrian delegation to the UN Human Rights Council strongly denounced the “flagrant bias of Navi Pillay” over the situation in Syria.
Pillay "blames the Syrian government and ignores the human rights violations committed on a grand scale by al-Qaeda, the al-Nusra Front and extremist groups,” the body said.
On Monday, Pillay decried the "horrific" level of rights violations in Syria, as the UN's top rights body decided to hold an urgent debate on the situation in the country.
Syria has repeatedly voiced concerns about Western biased reports on dimensions of the insurgency in the country, which usually ignore crimes committed by hundreds of militants fighting in Syria with the support of the US, Israel, UK and some Arab countries, such as Qatar and Saudi Arabia.
In April, the Syrian government submitted documents on the use of chemical weapons by militants against civilians. However US officials keep making accusations of the army using chemical weapons, without providing any evidence.
Latest reports by UN investigators have only confirmed use of chemical weapons in the country but have fallen short of saying which side has been using them.
