Al-Alam correspondent accompanied the army soldiers through the Sunday operation which pushed terrorists back from key areas in the city.

According to a military officer, the army completely encircled the town and started its operations from three sides -- south, east and northeast.

The soldiers are continuing their operations from east and northeast parts and as from Sunday the army controls key areas of the city including the municipality building.

The main building in which senior commanders of terrorist al-Nusra Front were located was completely destroyed in an army attack. No terrorists survived the attack.

Recapturing al-Qusayr and the surrounding district of Homs province is a key objective, and fighting has increased in the region for months.

The Syrian military was advancing on other fronts on Sunday as well, taking control of the militants-held village of Halfaya in Hama province.

Numerous members of the Al-Nusra Front in Halfaya were killed in the operation.

In Damascus, a military source said troops were advancing in the Barzeh district on the northern outskirts of the city.

Army advancements in southern city of Daraa was also considerable as many terrorist were killed and others fled back from residential areas.
