The army has advanced into northern city of Halfaya in Hama, Barzeh near Damascus, southern city of Daraa and in strategic town of al-Qusayr in southern province of Homs.
The army launched an important operation in al-Qusayr in which Syrian soldiers were able to destroy al-Nusra Front’s command room. None of the militants survived the attack.
"We struck from several fronts -- south, east and northeast," a soldier told state television from al-Qusayr.
He said fierce fighting erupted at the area and the army quickly seized the southern part of town, the town hall and nearby buildings, and advanced on the outskirts of the western sector of al-Qusayr.
"The armed men fled towards the northern sector but we are also advancing on that area to clear all armed presence," the soldier said.
He said at least one hundred militants were killed in the operation during which troops had to defuse mines and bombs placed by rebels at the gates of al-Qusayr.
The army is now in control of the town center and the Syrian flag is flying over the municipality building.
