Iran unveiled its newest combat jet on Saturday - a domestically manufactured stealth fighter-bomber.
President Ahmadinejad said in a ceremony marking the unveiling of the aircraft that the Qaher-313, or Dominant-313, "has almost all the positive features of the world's most sophisticated fighter jets."
He also said that "the development of the Iranian nation's military power is not aimed at violating other nations' rights" but "is for deterrence and defensive purposes."
"The development of the Iranian nation's military power is not aimed at violating other nations' rights. It is not for expansionist policies, rather it is for deterrence and defensive purposes and is in fact a manifestation of Iran's ingenuity and talent to defend and protect itself with the least possible costs and most humanistic ways, "said President Ahmadinejad.
The Qaher 313 is one of several aircraft designs rolled out by the Iranian military since 2007.
The Islamic republic launched a self-sufficiency military program in the 1980s to compensate for a Western weapons embargo that banned export of military technology and equipment to Iran.
Since 1992, Iran has produced its own tanks, armoured personnel carriers, missiles, torpedoes, drones and fighter planes.
Iran unveiled its first domestically manufactured fighter jet, called Azarakhsh or Lightning, in 2007.
Saeqeh, or Thunder, was a follow-up aircraft derived from Azarakhsh.
Iran unveiled its first squadron of Saeqeh fighter bombers in an air show in September 2010.
