Joint statement issued by presidents of Iran, Russia, Turkey

Iran, Russia, Turkey sent a joint letter to the secretary general of the UN and the president of the UN Security Council and called for the statement of Sochi summit to be published as a security council document.

(MNA) -- Iran, Russia and Turkey sent the joint statement of the three countries on Syria which was released Thursday in Sochi to the United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres and the President of the United Nations Security Council Sebastiano Cardi, and called for the proceedings of the summit to be published as a UN Security Council document. 

The said letter was signed by Iran's Ambassador to the United Nations Gholamali Khoshroo, Russia's Permanent Representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya and the Turkish diplomat Feridun Sinirlioğlu.

In this statement issued on November 22 during the tripartite meeting of the presidents of Iran, Russia and Turkey, the determination of the three countries to engage in trilateral cooperation in order to bring about peace and security in Syria was underlined. 

Also, the role of the Astana talks in relieving regional tension and violence and the necessity for continuing the talks were also highlighted. 

The presidents of the three countries also expressed hope that resolving the Syrian crisis through cooperation between Iran, Russia and Turkey can exert positive influence on the region in general and decrease the danger of ethnic and regional conflicts.
