In an interview with the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), Member of National Assembly, Shehryar Khan Afridi said that the landmark nuclear deal, officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), is a multinational agreement and the US cannot alone break it.

(IRNA) -- The US would be isolated in the world if it pulls out of the deal, he said.

“I believe for the peaceful world and for the sake of humanity, certain initiatives need to be taken but the approach of US President Donald Trump is difficult to understand which is to polarize the world,” Afridi added.

He said that targeting Iran, Pakistan or any other country for polarization is against the interest of the US.

The politician went on to say that the entire world community has been supporting not only Iran but also a peaceful world.

The MP said that all those issues which haunt the global peace need to be sorted out and whatever initiative US President has taken so far is something which is not acceptable to any civilized soul.

“All those commitments made by the previous US government need to be endorsed in letter and spirit otherwise it would create a negative impression about over all approach of the US,” he said.

Afridi added that Iran, as a sovereign independent state, has a right to pursue independent policies and no other country in the world can dictate them.

Relations with world countries are usually maintained on the basis of equality and this message has already been given by the Iranian government which speaks in high volumes of their higher integrity and overall global image.

“It is responsibility of the US to own and fulfill the commitment made under the JCPOA,” added the MP.
The lawmaker said if Americans end the nuclear agreement unilaterally, which they cannot, it will put them in an awkward position.

The Member of National Assembly added that today the world has become multi-polar with a number of countries as its main players.

He added that the US cannot make decisions without taking these countries into confidence as it would challenge the interest of the US at all levels.
