Army deploys new missile batteries to western Iran

Khatam Al-Anbia Air Defense Base has deployed new missile systems to western regions of the country in a bid to strengthen air defense capabilities.

(MNA) -- General Alireza Elhami, Deputy Commander of Khatam Al-Anbia Air Defense Base for Operations, made the remarks on Tuesday.

The Iranian commander, while referring to military drills of Army and IRGC forces in western Iran, stated “in line with its basic responsibilities, the Base has provided necessary air defense shield for military exercises and drills by the Islamic Republic of Iran Army as well as the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).”

He reiterated that Khatam Al-Anbia Air Defense Base had deployed new missile batteries to the Western parts of the country to boost its air defense shield and give decisive response to any likely aggression.

General Elhami underlined that Iran’s air defense system ensured western regions, border areas in particular, by using different types of radar, missile, intelligence, communication and artillery facilities.

Elhami made the remarks only few days after a massive military drills by the IRGC ground forces, dubbed Moharram, in the country’s northwestern regions.
