A Christian man has prayed alongside thousands of Muslims at Friday prayers in the Wadi el-Joz neighborhood as tensions flare between Israeli forces and Palestinians.

Nidal Aboud prayed among Muslims, reading his Bible while Muslims around him chanted their prayers.

He stood silently and respectfully as they said “Allahu Akbar”, God is greatest, CNN reported.

The photo has been published in local media and widely shared on social network websites as an interfaith moment and an example of cooperation in a time of conflict.

The prayers took place after the Israeli regime restricted access to Al-Aqsa mosque – one of the holiest places for Muslims across the world.

Israeli authorities have recently installed metal detectors and limited entry to men over 50 and women, a move that has inflamed tensions.

Palestinians and Muslim nations have staged widespread demonstrations against the so-called security measure, and violent clashes have erupted between Palestinians and Israeli forces.

Aboud, a 24-year-old Palestinian who has never before participated in Muslim prayers, says he wanted to stand alongside Muslims as they prayed.

“I had a dream since I was a child. I wanted to spread the world with love. I wanted to be the one who plants love in people's hearts,” he said.
