The army soldiers inflicted major losses on the Jeish al-Islam militants and captured approximately 700 meters of territory between Hawsh al-Dhawahra and al-Shifouniyeh, as they managed to split-up these Jeish al-Islam towns from one another.
The Syrian army men began their attack from the nearby villages of Hawsh Nasr and Mayda'a, striking Jeish al-Islam's defense lines with heavy artillery shelling before storming al-Dawahra and Midaani.
Reports said on Thursday that the Syrian army backed by the country's air force further advanced towards Jeish al-Islam terrorists' bastion city of Duma, East of Damascus province.
The Syrian government troops advanced to the terrorists' positions in the towns of Hamouriyeh and Beit Souri in the surrounding areas of Douma city after the Syrian fighter jets pounded the terrorists' military positions several times from the Eastern and Northeastern directions.
The Syrian soldiers also continued their special military operations to further tighten their siege of the terrorists in the town of al-Reihan and its surrounding areas and further advanced inside the town.
A large number of Jeish al-Islam terrorists have been killed after the Syrian army's advances in the towns of Hawsh al-Nasri, Hawsh al-Farah, Tal (Hill) Kurdi and Tal al-Sawan in Eastern Ghouta in Damascus countryside.
The Syrian forces are planning to take control of al-Reihan and Shifouniyeh towns in Eastern Ghouta to get closer to Douma, FNA reported.
