The long-awaited battle for Mosul enters its third days, in a push which has seen the Iraqi army join forces with various military groups in the country, including Shia, Sunni and Kurdish forces, to drive out Daesh terrorists from their last stronghold in Iraq.
Plumes of smoke were seen coming out of a building in Mosul early on Wednesday as Iraqi forces continued their operation to retake the city from the Islamic State group.
The pace of the operation, which is being supported by the US-led coalition, slowed on Tuesday as Iraqi forces began pushing toward larger villages and encountering civilian populations.
More than 25,000 troops have mobilized for the Mosul fight, a massive operation that's expected to take weeks, if not months.
