Over 400 migrants from West Africa, including 78 women and 10 children, were brought into the Italian port of Augusta, Sicily, on Monday.
They were on board the rescue ship Phoenix run by the non-profit group MOAS (Migrant Off-Shore Aid Station).
The migrants were rescued from three rubber dinghies about 12 nautical miles off the coast of Libya.
According to Beppe Galea Mallia, the Chief Office on board the Phoenix, all the migrants were in good condition although there were some pregnant women and some people with scabies.
According to the UN High Commission for Refugees, as of September 11th, 124,475 migrants have arrived in Italy by sea in 2016, thousands have died in the attempt.
