Libyan forces grind forward in their battle to oust ISIS terrorist group from their remaining areas of control in the coastal city of Sirte, seizing a mosque, a bank and a hospital.
Libyan forces recaptured several buildings including a mosque and a bank on Sunday (September 4) from ISIS control in Sirte's neighbourhood. Forces loyal to the U.N.-backed government reported yesterday they had advanced on some of the last ISIS holdouts in the coastal city. The forces launched their campaign last May and have been aided by U.S. air strikes since the beginning of August. On Sunday, fighters, who are mostly from Misrata, 230 km northwest of the city, were seen firing towards snipers believed to be hiding inside a building in the area. A make-shift women's hospital used by ISIS militants was also taken by the Libyan forces; AFP reported.
