The Syrian military’s media center on Wednesday released footage of what they said was the shelling of the besieged towns of Kefraya and Foua.
Syrian news agency SANA reported that the two towns in northern Idlib were shelled on Tuesday by Syrian armed groups affiliated to the Jaish al-Fatah (or Army of Conquest), coalition.
SANA said that the armed groups fired over 150 mortar shells from launchers in al-Sawaghiyeh area on residential neighborhoods in the two towns injuring five civilians including a woman and a child.
The attacks also caused material damage to the houses and properties of local residents, and particularly to water tanks, SANA said.
Kefraya and Foua are seen as loyal to the government. Much of Idlib is under the control of the Army of Conquest coalition, which is dominated by ultraconservative insurgent groups and rebel factions.
Al-Qaida’s Syrian affiliate, the Nusra Front, leads the coalition.
