A military source in Northeastern Lattakia said on Friday that the Russian Air Force pounded the gathering along Zuwayqat-Kabani road, killing a large number of Fatah al-Sham Front militants that were preparing to strike Syrian Army positions South of Kabani.
The total number of militants killed by the airstrikes is unknown, however, the source added that several armored vehicles belonging to Fatah al-Sham Front were destroyed during the Russian onslaught.
The aerial attack on terrorist groups in Northern Lattakia comes as Syrian soldiers and National Defense Forces continue to push terrorist groups back from more strongholds in the province's mountainous region and restored security to at least 17 villages, heights and small towns in recent days.
"The Syrian government forces fortified their positions in Bashouran, Marj al-Zawiyeh, al-Hamrat, Toubal, Shilif, Balah, Mazin, Ouniyat, Ara, Dowyrika, Salma, Benjazi, Arafit, Ta'oumeh, Aliyeh, al-Beidha and Ein al-Barda," a battlefield source said.
"The Syrian forces are now getting ready to launch fresh round of operations to liberate militant-held regions of Boughaz, Kafr Inya, Dama, insurgents camp, Shamervaran, Salour, Jagal Isa and Hayat," they added.
