Russian warplanes which took off from airbases in Russia and Iran conducted a group air strike on the Islamic State terrorist group (ISIS / Daesh / ISIL / IS) in Syria on Thursday, according to the Russian Defense Ministry.
Russia’s Tu-22M3 long-range bombers and Su-34 tactical bombers destroyed five large ammunition and fuel depots, six control centers, and struck a large number of militants, artillery positions and military equipment belonging to the terror group during the air strike in the Deir ez-Zor province.
The Su-30SM and Su-35S warplanes, which had taken off from the Hmeymim airbase in Syria, covered the long-range bombers.
All warplanes have returned to the airfield after finishing their combat task, the Russian Defense Ministry said.
