US-backed forces in Libya on Saturday continued to fight the Islamic State (ISIS / Daesh / ISIL / IS) group for their last bastion in the city of Sirte.
Sirte was seized by a powerful ISIS affiliate last year and was once seen as a fall-back option for the group if it were ever defeated in Iraq and Syria.
But Libyan forces launched an offensive to retake Sirte in June and earlier this week captured a number of strategic locations with the aid of US airstrikes.
Officials say the city is now 70 per cent liberated.
