The fight to retake the Libyan city of Sirte from the Islamic State group (ISIS / Daesh / ISIL) continued on Tuesday, Al-Alam News Network reports.
It is being led by militias from the western city of Misrata, loyal to Libya’s UN-brokered government, which advanced into the city last week.
After an initial push into the coastal city, the pro-government forces have been slowed down by ISIS suicide bombers.
Sirte, which is located 450 kilometers (280 miles) east of the capital of Tripoli, has been under ISIS (Daesh) control for over a year now.
