The Russian Ministry of Defense announced on Tuesday that their air force carried out an important mission to destroy an ISIS military camp in the Syrian province of Homs.
Six Tu-22M3 long-range bombers carried out a large number of airstrikes over the ISIS military camp, causing severe damage to the aforementioned terrorist group’s primary weapons supply in the desert-city of Sukhanah.
"“The strike resulted in the destruction of a large militant field camp, three depots of arms and munitions, three tanks, four infantry combat vehicles and eight vehicles fitted with heavy machine guns, also neutralizing a large number of enemy fighters,” the statement says."
Russia’s airstrikes over the Palmyra countryside have played a pivotal role in the Syrian Army’s defense of the city, as they have been able to repel every Islamic State offensive to recapture the area.
Also Russian Air Force carried out a number of airstrikes in the West Ghouta region of rural Damascus on Tuesday, hitting several terrorists’ targets at the strategic town of Khan Al Sheih.
A military source told Al-Masdar News on Tuesday that the Russian Air Force launched five airstrikes at Khan Al-Sheih, killing a large number militants from Jabhat Al-Nusra (Syrian Al-Qaeda group) and Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham.
Last time the Russian Air Force attacked the West Ghouta region, they were specifically targeting a "jihadist" meeting in Khan Al-Sheih.
The Russian Air Force was likely targeting a specific terrorist’s commander in the West Ghouta; especially, since they rarely conduct airstrikes at night.
