"The Syrian army stormed the ISIL strongholds near the villages of Hamadi Omar and Sheikh Hillal, which ended in the destruction of several vehicles in the terrorists' sites," the army said.
"Several ISIL terrorists were also killed or wounded in the explosions of the vehicles," the army added.
In relevant development in the province on Sunday, the ISIL lost more ground as the Syrian army and air force continued to target the Takfiri militants' positions in Deir Ezzur, Aleppo and Hama.
Tens of terrorists were killed and dozens more injured in heavy clashes with the Syrian government troops and also in the Syrian airstrikes.
The Syrian army destroyed ISIL's mortar launchers in al-Mura'yeh village in Deir Ezzur province.
The army units also destroyed a convoy of the militants and their weapons in the surrounding areas of al-Tharda village in the Eastern part of Deir Ezzur province.
Other army units inflicted heavy losses on the militants in the Southeastern countryside of Aleppo province.
Scores of ISIL terrorists were killed and injured in the Syrian army's counteroffensive on Ithriya-Khanaser road; FNA reported.
