The Syrian Army has announced that its troops have engaged in heavy fighting with the ISIL militants in a neighborhood of the Eastern city of Deir Ezzur and have inflicted major losses on the terrorists.
"The militant groups' strongholds in the neighborhood of al Roshdiyeh came under attacks of the Syrian army, which left several militants killed or wounded and destroyed their military vehicles," the army said.
Earlier reports said that the ISIL field commanders and loyalists opened fire at a group of comrades fleeing the battlefield in the Eastern province of Deir Ezzur.
80-member group of ISIL terrorists, tired of continued failures of the group in battles with the Syrian government forces, tried to flee the battlefield and save their lives, but they were tracked and targeted by the loyal members of the terrorist group.
The incident ended in the killing or wounding of several fleeing militants; FNA reported.
