Syrian army troops backed by popular forces have liberated a village in the northwestern Aleppo Province as they continue their fight against Takfiri militants operating in the country.
Army sources said on Thursday that security had been restored to the village of As Sin in the eastern countryside of Aleppo City.
They also destroyed Daesh vehicles and fortifications in Tal Arbash, located some 30 kilometers east of Aleppo city, as well as in the villages of al-Qaroutiyeh, al-Zaalaneh and Treidem.
Syrian forces also targeted Daesh (ISIS/ISIL) terrorists in the town of Qabasin, located north of al-Bab city.
The advances come a day after army units launched an operation aimed at liberating more areas of Eastern Aleppo.
The Syrian army said its forces had recaptured the strategic town of Kansaba in the northern countryside of Latakia Province after clashes with militants.
Last week, Syrian forces gained full control over Aleppo’s village of al-Tamora.
Syrian government forces have been fighting a foreign-backed militancy since March 2011. Several regional countries - among them Turkey, which has a long border with Syria - have been aiding the militants fighting the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
Some 470,000 people have been killed and 1.9 million injured, according to the Syrian Center for Policy Research, Press TV reported.
