The Syrian Army backed by the country’s National Defense Forces (NDF) continued to advance against the militant groups and pushed them back from more villages in the Northern part of the coastal province of Latakia near the border with Turkey, the army announced minutes ago.
“The militant groups were badly hit by the Syrian government forces in the mountainous regions North of Latakia and pulled the forces back from the villages of al-Koum al-Tahtani and al-Koum al-Fouqani,” the army said.
“The government force inflicted a heavy death toll on the terrorists and destroyed their military equipment in large scale,” the army added.
In relevant developments on Saturday the Syrian army announced that its troops alongside the country's popular forces continued to advance against the militants in the Northern part of Latakia and drove them back from three strategic heights and a hill.
“The Syrian government forces have pushed the militant groups back from the hill that overlooks the strategic village of al-Saraf and also retook control over the Heights of 489, 465 and 547 in the mountainous region of the coastal province of Latakia near border with Turkey,” the army said.
“The militant groups left behind scores of the dead and wounded members and fled the battlefield,” the army further added, FNA reported.
