“The Syrian army and the country's National Defense Forces (NDF) engaged in fierce clashes with the ISIS militants near al-Jabilah, killed or wounded several of them and destroyed their military hardware,” the army said.
“In the meantime, the Syrian fighter jets bombed the ISIS gatherings near the village of al-Janinah, which ended in destruction of the militants’ weapons,” the army added.
“The ISIS strongholds also sustained major losses in the heavy shelling of the Syrian army’s artillery units in the regions of al-Roshdiyah and al-Jabilah,” the army went on to say.
“The ISIS centers in al-Janinah also were shelled by the artillery units,” the army said.
“Scores of the ISIS terrorists were killed or wounded in the shelling and bombardments,” the army said.
The Syria armed forces have been heavily pounding the ISIS positions across the province in recent weeks.
The Syrian Army announced earlier today that the county’s fighter jets bombed a column of ISIS oil tankers and an arms cargo in the Eastern province of Deir Ezzur, killing some two dozen terrorists.
“The Syrian Air Force strikers bombed a convoy of ISIS oil tankers and meantime targeted their military vehicles carrying heavy weapons in al-Mura’yeh Farm, al-Sina’ah (Industrial) Area and Tal Kroum,” the army said.
The army said the arms cargo contained various types of weapons, including 23mm machineguns and their ammunition, adding that both convoys were fully damaged and at least 22 terrorists were killed in the operation.
“The Syrian army and popular forces also fended off the ISIS attacks in al-Baqaliyeh, the oil-rich areas, depot of ammunition, Forat al-Sham Hotel, al-Ruwad trench and Basel al-Assad water-pumping station in the Eastern province, and killed or wounded many terrorists,” the army added.
“The Syrian government forces also destroyed an ISIS explosive-laden suicide car before they could blast it in Ayyash village,” the army went on to say, FNA reported.
