Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in meeting with German Foreign Minister Frank Walter Steinmeier described economic cooperation as a main way to solidify a comprehensive nuclear deal between Tehran and the Group 5+1 - Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany.

“The parties to the nuclear negotiations should try to fully honor commitments, so that the whole seven countries would feel they have benefited from the agreement,” President Rouhani said in a meeting with German Foreign Minister Frank Walter Steinmeier in Tehran on Saturday.

He was referring to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), a lasting nuclear accord that Iran and the Group 5+1 (also known as the P5+1 or E3+3) hammered out in July.

“That general benefit, along with economic cooperation, including cooperation between Iran and Germany, is a key point that could completely strengthen the pillars of this (nuclear) deal,” the Iranian president added.

He also highlighted the good grounds for cooperation between Tehran and Berlin in settlement of the international disputes, particularly in the fight against terrorism and contribution to the regional peace and stability.

“The cooperation for settling problems such as terrorism requires all countries to be committed to the basic and major principles and refrain from adopting double standards,” President Rouhani added.

For his part, the German diplomat said he has visited Iran to give a fresh impetus to the process of revival of bilateral relations.

Steinmeier also voiced the European country’s enthusiasm for enhancing economic and cultural ties with Iran.

Heading a high-ranking delegation, the German foreign minister visited Iran on Saturday to attend a core group meeting of the Munich Security Conference (MSC); Tasnim reported.
