Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian on Monday underscored the determination of Tehran and Kuwait City for development of cooperation, saying the two countries have strong relations.
Amir Abdollahian said Kuwait’s Emir and the Islamic Republic of Iran’s president act tactfully and wisely in the area of bilateral and regional relations and strive for sustainable security, stability, and development in the region.
Iran and Kuwait are still moving forward based on their leaders’ resolve to promote collaborations, he added.
The senior Iranian official further noted that extremists and enemies of the region would not be allowed to undermine the relations between regional states.
“Tehran welcomes bilateral and multilateral regional dialogue in the region,” he added.
The remarks came after some tension between the two neighboring countries in recent weeks.
Earlier this month, Kuwaiti media alleged that members of a group arrested in the Arab country last month with weapons and ammunition had links with Iran.
Amir Abdollahian at that time described the allegations as unfounded, saying that problems in the Arab country have nothing to do with Tehran.
Also, back in late August, Kuwait summoned Iran’s charge d'affairs over alleged reports that Tehran has put development of a joint offshore gas field in the Persian Gulf out to tender; Tasnim reported.
