Syrian President Bashar al-Assad will travel to Egypt in the near future, a senior Egyptian Politician and former lawmaker claimed.
"The grounds for Assad's visit to Cairo have been prepared and Egypt will take the needed security measures to ensure the Syrian president's safety," Ayman Nour, founder and head of Egypt's Hizb Ghad al-Thwara (Revolution's Tomorrow Party), wrote on his Twitter account.
Nour further claimed that President Assad has already sent a diplomatic delegation to Cairo to this end.
In relevant remarks, a retired Egyptian general had also earlier claimed that Syria and Egypt are cooperating and Cairo has sent military equipment for the Damascus government.
Nour is Egypt's former Member of Parliament who had also nominated himself for presidential elections in 2012; FNA reported.
