Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei on Thursday offered condolences to Kuwait’s people and government over the passing away of senior Shiite cleric Ayatollah Seyyed Muhammad Baqir al-Musawi al-Muhri.
The Leader in a message addressed to Secretary General of the National Islamic Alliance Sheikh Hussain al-Ma’touq highlighted Ayatollah Muhri’s constant endeavors to promote Islamic teachings and extended Iran's sympathy to the late cleric's bereaved family, his adherents as well as the Kuwaiti nation.
The Leader also prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace, Press TV reported.
Ayatollah Muhri, who was a member of the Ahl-ul-Bayt World Assembly, died on Saturday of a heart attack at the age of 66.
Born in 1948 in the holy Iraqi city of Najaf, he started learning religious sciences at an early age.
His father, grand Ayatollah Seyed Abbas Muhri, was among the top scholars at Najaf seminary.
He studied at Najaf seminary under Grand Ayatollah Abul-Qassim Khoei and Mohammad Baqir al-Sadr.
