“If you really want to fight ISIS (ISIL), you should be supporting the rightful legal government of Syria,” said David Duke, former member of the House of Representative in Louisiana, said in a phone interview with Press TV on Tuesday.

“When you say you are going to spite ISIS, but you’re going to send hundreds of millions of dollars in arms and support to so-called rebels, the rebels are not going to be using all those arms and so forth against ISIS. In fact they much rather fight against the government,” he added.

Duke warned that threatening the Assad’s government will endanger the entire region.

“If the government of Syria falls there is no question that ISIS will take over the complete nation of Syria, and then their soldiers will be freed up because their biggest battle is against the government of Assad, and their soldiers will be freed up to sweep into Iraq and they will be sweeping into Jordan, ... and into the entire region.”

Last week, the US House and Senate voted to pass President Barack Obama’s Middle East war plans authorizing the US to begin openly training and arming the rebels who have been fighting for three years to overthrow the Assad government.

Duke said that the US anti-Assad war continues because the American government “is just totally under the control of the Zionists.”

“The whole policy is insane and the only way you can explain this policy is by understanding that the Jewish extremists have complete control over American policy and they have control over much of world’s media,” said Duke.

“The Syrian government is the only thing standing between the massive genocide of millions of … Muslims and Christians in Syria and in Jordan.”
