Units of the armed forces foiled an armed militant group's infiltration attempt from al-Maysar neighborhood and the vineyards to the north of al-Aziziyeh village towards the safe areas in Aleppo on Wednesday, killing 12 militants and destroying a bulldozer.
A military source told the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) that army units continued pursuing the armed militant groups in al-Lairamoun neighborhood, Gharbi al-Zahraa district and the outskirts of al-Ashrafiyeh neighborhood in Aleppo, inflicting heavy losses upon these groups.
The army units also destroyed militants' gatherings and vehicles in several operations in Kafer Joum, Khan Kraimish, al-Atareb, Haritan, Ebtin, Handarat, Deir Hafer, Kwairis, Ghabsheh, Babis, Kafer Hamra al-Owaijeh, Sheikh Said and Bustan al-Qaser.
In the city of Daraa al-Balad, army units killed and injured a number of militants in the area surrounding al-Yarmouk school, al-Bajabijeh quarter, to the south of Khazan al-Karek, and Jordan Street; and in the villages of Nahteh and Bosr al-Harir in the city's countryside.
In Idlib countryside, a unit of the armed forces thwarted a militant group's infiltration attempt from al-Zawiya mount towards the safe areas in Ariha, killing and injuring a number of militants.
A military source told SANA that army units targeted armed militant groups' gatherings in the villages of Bsileh and Kafer Jales, eliminating a number of militants, among them non-Syrian militants.
The source added that the army units also destroyed a factory for manufacturing explosive devices and a cache for the militants' ammunition and a number of cars equipped with heavy machineguns.
Army units killed and injured scores of militants, in addition to destroying their weapons and ammunition in Kfarouma, Ein Larouz and the area surrounding al-Arba'ain mountain.
Another army unit killed all members of an armed militant group in al-Rouj plain in the countryside.
Syria sank into war in March 2011 when pro-reform protests turned into a massive insurgency following the intervention of Western and regional states.
The unrest, which took in terrorist groups from across Europe, the Middle East and North Africa, has transpired as one of the bloodiest conflicts in recent history.
