A unit of the country’s armed forces destroyed a cache of ammunition and weapons belonging to the insurgents in al-Hula area of Homs countryside on Saturday, killing 15 militants, state news agency SANA reported, citing a security source.

The report identified some of the insurgents killed in the operation as Yahya Awad, the leader of an armed group affiliated to the al-Qaeda-linked al-Nusra Front, as well as Husam Abdel-Karim Alloush, Adnan al-Qasem and Mohammad Hammadeh.

Additionally, according to the report, another Syrian army unit destroyed a militant hideout and arms depot as well as three vehicles equipped with heavy machineguns in Kafre Laha district, killing and wounding several more insurgents.

The report further cited its sources to report that Syrian troops also destroyed a number of vehicles filled with armed militants and weapons in the villages of Abu Hawadid and Um Sahrij in Jeb al-Jarrah region.

The army also destroyed two insurgent staging areas in Talbiseh city and Abu al-Anz farms, killing and injuring a number of the foreign-backed militants.

Also in the northern countryside of Hama, said the military source, Syrian forces destroyed other insurgent hideouts and eliminated scores of their elements.

Among those killed in the operation were Tunisian terrorists Younis Said al-Younis and Matar al-Hamidi, in addition to other insurgents identified in the report as Basem Mustafa al-Marae, Nader Shaaban al-Yousef and Azam Salim al-Diko.
