“The ministry is prepared to cooperate with the Lebanese Interior Ministry on counter-terrorism measures, pursuing terrorists and intercepting criminal tools aimed at targeting the stability of Lebanon and Syria,” said a statement released late Thursday by Syrian state news agency SANA.

The statement further added that the interior ministry is also prepared to offer “anything within its means” to foil any terrorist attack that targets the security and safety of the Syrian and Lebanese nations.”

The development comes following Wednesday's twin suicide bombings targeting the Iranian Cultural Center in Beirut’s Bir Hassan neighborhood, killing 11and wounding scores of people.

The al-Qaeda-linked Abdullah Azzam Brigades claimed responsibility for the terrorist attack vowing to continue its terror efforts as long as the Hezbollah resistance movement continues assisting the Syrian government in repelling foreign-sponsored terrorists that aim to overthrow President Bashar al-Assad and destabilize they key Arab country as well as the region. 

A number of the terrorist acts carried out in Lebanon in the past year have reportedly been planned or executed by terrorists based in Syria.
