Iran Air Defense Force has introduced a powerful new home-made radar system named Arash.

Arash Radar was unveiled and joined the national air defense network at a Tuesday ceremony attended by Commander of Khatam al-Anbiya Air Defense Base Brigadier General Farzad Esmaili.

Esmaili said that despite its modest design, the radar system has a very long range and further strengthens country’s integrated air defense network.

The radar complements Iran’s radar capability in VHF, UHF and HF frequency bands and boosts the country’s integrated defense system in electronic wars, the commander added.

On November 27, the Iranian Navy unveiled its latest indigenously manufactured phased array radar system, dubbed the Asr (Era).

The home-made radar system is capable of detecting targets with a surface area of around four square meters at distances as far as 110 miles, and can also spot cruise missiles.

In recent years, Iran has made great achievements in the defense sector and gained self-sufficiency in the production of essential military hardware and defense systems.

Tehran has repeatedly assured other nations that its military might poses no threat to other countries, saying that the Islamic Republic’s defense doctrine is entirely based on deterrence.
