Army destroys rebels’ tunnels in Rif Damascus

Government troops in Syria have battered foreign-backed terrorist groups in Western Ghouta in Rif Damascus and destroyed tunnels prepared for arms transfer.

Syrian army also regained control of Damascus international airport and strategic roads leading to the holy Sayyidah Zaynab mausoleum on Friday, according to al-Alam TV news channel.

On Thursday, army troops have taken full control in Shab’a and arrived in Deir al-Asafir and Hatyat ul Turkaman in Ghouta in Damascus neighborhood, inflicting heavy damages to militant forces.

The army forces also destroyed tunnels prepared by terrorist forces to transfer arms and forces to the holy shrine in Rif Damascus.

Syrian militants planned to channel into the holy Sayyidah Zaynab shrine to carry out terrorist operation against pilgrims.

Conflict between Syrian army forces and terrorist groups in Rif Damascus still continued. The army launched fresh operation after Syrian forces cleared terrorists from Shab’a town.

Shab’a is a strategic region near the key road leading to Damascus International airport. Foreign-backed militant forces deployed their snipers in the region to block the Syrian forces advance.

Syrian army forces regained Shab’a a few days ago and liberated the city from terrorist groups.

Residents of the town accounted ordeal ahead of the arrival of Syrian army forces but said they refused to evacuate the town despite the smear campaign launched by terrorist forces.

Local people also said that terrorist groups came from different countries including Tunisia, Libya and Iraq.
