A Turkey official says the country has a mandate from its parliament to launch military operations against Syria.

Turkey's deputy prime minister said the mandate aims to maintain the country's security. The government said it's taking all necessary preparations for a possible strike.

Turkey has said before it would be ready to participate in any international action against Syrian president Bashar Assad.

Turkey has put its armed forces on alert to guard against any threats from Syria.

Turkey has rotated its NATO Patriot missiles batteries towards Syria. The move comes after Western countries along with their allies in the region have blamed the Syrian government to use chemical weapons in Damascus suburbs.

Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmad Davoudoglu also urged the U.S. to take serious measures in Syria.

Many people believe Ankara’s rhetoric will only cause more bloodshed for Turkey.

Turkey has been openly calling for regime change in Syria since the country was hit by unrest in 2011.
