“There will not be a meeting this weekend," Sarah Kharkour, the spokesman of the so-called Syrian National Coalition (SNC) said on Thursday.
The SNC's new chief Ahmad Jarba had said on Tuesday that the opposition was expected to form a provisional government in the second half of August.
Syrian opposition groups had strived to form a united front after two years of conflict which, according to the UN, left 100,000 dead and millions displaced.
The opposition group’s last effort to set up a provisional government failed under Ghassam Hitto, a self-proclaimed prime minister collapsed when Hitto stepped down four months of the failed efforts.
