Egypt’s Tamarod movement plans to collect signatures for a petition against the US intervention in the North African Arab country.
The Tamarod movement urged Egyptians to sign a petition to show their opposition to the US policies towards Egypt and also the US-brokered Camp David accords, al-Alam reported on Saturday.
The movement is to hold an internet-based poll through its website to show Egyptians’ anti-US sentiment in the critical situation.
The poll will consist of two questions, whether Egyptians oppose receiving any aid from the US and whether people want to cancel peace treaties between Egypt and Israeli regime to give the chance to Egypt to secure its borderlines by itself.
The Tamarod movement succeeded in collecting 22 million signatures for a petition against Muslim Brotherhood's former president Mohamed Morsi, and the anti-Morsi campaign managed to challenge his 13.2 million votes that brought Morsi to victory in last June's presidential election.
Tension has intensified in Egypt since July 3, when army chief Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi removed Morsi from office, suspended the constitution and dissolved the parliament.
